PTO EVENTS & ACTIVITIES
We have events and fundraisers throughout the year to help support Cooper Mountain. Our biggest fundraiser of the year is the Cougar Run, held in the Fall. This great event funds all of the PTO’s operating expenses for the year, including field trips, family events, art literacy, classroom and library enhancements, and much more!

Our biggest fundraiser of the year! Children have fun getting pledges for laps, and parents have fun cheering on the runners. Many companies match donations so don’t forget to check with your employer. It’s a big event with lots of kids and seemingly just as many volunteers! The Cougar Run is held at the end of September or early October.
It’s like having an amazing book store at the school! The Scholastic Book Fair is held each year in the school library during conference weeks (1-2 times a year). It runs for 2-4 days by Cooper Mountain volunteers. Buy books for yourself, gifts or fulfill teachers’ wishes for books from Teacher Wish Lists! Profits go to the school library.
CLOTHES CLOSET/LOST & FOUND
The Beaverton School District runs a program that provides free clothing for K-12 children in the district that are in need. They are invited to choose 10 items of clothing from the Clothes Closet 2-3 times a year. Each BSD school donates all of their unclaimed lost and found items throughout the school year and may also have a clothing drive or other event to help support the Clothes Closet. Additionally, each school is responsible to schedule volunteers to staff one Wednesday a year sorting the donated clothing at the district office.
DINING FOR DOLLARS
Dining for Dollars fundraisers are scheduled events with restaurants within the community. Families dine out together and a percentage of the dollars spent are given to Cooper Mountain. It’s a great and easy way to raise money for the school by just dining out! Sometimes once a month, sometimes every other month, either way – keep an eye on the calendar & newsletters for specifics.
The year’s BIGGEST party! (Not to mention our second largest fundraiser). Games, great food, prizes – there’s so much we can’t keep track! Amazing raffle baskets the kids get excitedfor and an auction that has previously showcased items such as Hot Air Balloon Rides, U of O Ducks/Oregon State Football Tickets, Disneyland Passes, iPads, Weekend Getaways and much more!
FIFTH GRADE COMMITTEE
The most anticipated event of a 5th Grader’s Year! Often an end of year party with lots of fun activities. The event is scheduled the last week of school in June, but the 5th graders are looking forward to it from the first week in September. Most years a Memory Book is created for each child to take home.
FIFTH GRADE TALENT SHOW
Each year the 5th Grade holds a Talent Show in the Spring. It’s a fun way for a 5th grade student to show off their special talent. All Cooper Mountain families are invited to attend!
Gingerbread Night is a special tradition at Cooper Mountain and is held every December. The PTO provides gingerbread houses and candy for pre-purchase and plans an evening for families to come and all decorate them together. Families are welcome to also bring candy and other decorating supplies from home fi they wish.
The Harvest Festival is an event held at the end of each October. It’s a family fun night of food and special fall-themed activities. Costumes welcome!
Open to all students at all grade levels. The STEAM Fair includes displays of students’ projects as well as science-related activities, presenters, and hands on experiments!
STAFF APPRECIATION WEEK
Our Staff Appreciation volunteers work hard to maintain a positive staff morale and create a welcoming environment for new and returning Cooper Mountain families. They are responsible for organizing potlucks, recognizing staff retirements etc., and helping with other staff appreciation throughout the year. For both Fall and Spring Conferences, they coordinate an evening potluck meal for the CM staff, asking parents to bring in specific items that allow the event to be a success. In the Spring, families celebrate the amazing staff at Cooper Mountain with Staff Appreciation Week. Every day of the week is filled with something special to let them know how much we appreciate the wonderful things they do for our children and community. If you want to show your teacher some love, there are LOTS of opportunities to help out.
The Student Store is operated by the current year’s 5th grade as a way to raise money for their year-end celebration. It is open Sept-June on Tuesdays & Thursdays from 8:05am to 8:25am. When possible, it is also open at special school events such as Harvest Festival and Gingerbread Night. It is not open on late start days or on days with severe weather advisories.
WALK & BIKE TO SCHOOL
Each school in the Beaverton School District (BSD) has a monthly Walk & Bike to School event. Our Walk & Bike to School day is the first Wednesday of each month. IF there is no school that day, the event will be held the following Wednesday. Students walking and biking to school on those days will get a prize and the class with the most walkers and bikers will be presented with a special W&B trophy to display in their classrooms for that month.
